The newspaper on Thursday had photos and a short story announcing the two valedictorians and the salutatorian. Today they ran a corrected version with a massive apology to the students. In fact, all of the apology is owed to the very nice young lady who was the salutatorian. The first printing had a headline indicating she was the SLUTATORIAN. I know her entire family very well. I am positive they were very upset.

No that's probably correct. That is the female student with the trash stamp that is messing around with one of the faculty who most likely will be facing prison time as a result.
It appears that these things happens in small towns. These seemingly innocent perverse errors are really symptoms of the darker side of small town values.
It's fortunate that no one reads newspapers that much these days.
Not in this specific case.
We had one a year ahead of me many years ago who fit the bill, though. She was the assistant to the music/band instructor.......in more ways than one. He divorced his wife and told her to keep the three kids, married this young gal, they eventually had twins plus another kid or two and stayed married for about 30 years.
This happens everywhere. But, a far larger percentage of the community learns about it in smaller communities.
