Most of you all wouldn't know the name Mickey Jones as anyone notable.?ÿ Mickey probably knew more folks that made it big in the entertainment industry than anybody else...but none of them were really big until after they met Mickey.?ÿ He was a real life Forrest Gump of the entertainment industry.?ÿ Mickey left us a few days ago.
Stars like Johnny Rivers, Bob Dylan and Kenny Rogers (to name a few) all did their time on cheap stages in seedy dives with Mickey as their drummer.?ÿ Mickey even toured Europe with Dylan and was one of the Beach Boys for a short time.?ÿ Then in the late sixties when all these folks were at their peak Mickey turned to acting.?ÿ He's been in too many tv ads and movies to list, but most as an unsung character.?ÿ His personal friendships with the likes of Glen Campbell or Clint Eastwood were known only to a few.
If you saw his picture you'd recognize him immediately.?ÿ One polarizing character he played was the garage owner in the first Chevy Chase "Vacation"...with the famous reply when "Clark Griswold" asked him 'how much' for the repairs on?ÿhis wagon and Mickey slapped a pipe wrench in his hand and replied, "How much you got?"
Now you remember Mickey.?ÿ
Mick's career spanned fifty years and he personally watched close to a hundred of his friends all make it "big".?ÿ And Mickey was happy to just be Mickey.?ÿ He enjoyed his life....and we'll all miss him.
