Once in a while I receive a gift from a dying patients loved one. In this case, this gift was from the spouse of one of my patients.
I cannot take $$ or anything of heavy value, but I am allowed to accept small things of some sort.
I took care of this patient for almost a year until they passed this past September. ????
I learned so much in that past year from that patient and their spouse that will stay with me forever.
And I also made a lifelong friend out of the surviving spouse. ???
Anyhow...
The patient's spouse went off to Mexico to grieve and heal for few months.
The spouse finally returned from Mexico about a week or so ago.?ÿ And me, as I always do, checked in with them to see how they were doing, etc... (Grief can play many tricks on ones mind and heart!)
We finally decided to go out to dinner Friday to "catch up". This way, we could eat, drink, and chat away.
Imagine my surprise when I received these from the spouse at dinner!!! ???
Hand painted wooden coasters!!!
Birds! Butterfly! Even a Sloth for Wendell!! ???
They're absolutely beautiful. ????
I am so blessed and grateful beyond measure to receive something so precious and thoughtful.?ÿ 😳
Wait a minute, here.?ÿ Why a sloth for Wendell??ÿ Is that your "sweetie pie" nickname for Wendell? 😛 😛 ?ÿ
Mr HC, that observation and comment may be too much. Grieving people don't run down the lines of logic, that we all strive for. Go easy on them.
Angel, here is some music for you:
Happy New Year.
