Logging is highly regulated in Oregon to include having a plan PRIOR to any harvesting, if this was a photo of any size of logging operation at all, (more than a tree or tree or clearing some brush), you can pretty well bet the operation was overseen by a state or federal agency and what you see was approved in the harvest plan.

The area in question was definitely commercial clear cut harvest. While I generally set reactions aside and defer to experts, there is no way this cut made sense. Cutting from ridge top to waters edge is bad practice.
I respect your opinions and have no doubt you are correct that this was approved. I just think whoever approved it was insane.
