Title company recommended he talk to me about a survey for title coverage of two apartment sites he is thinking of buying, not quite across the street from each other. There are no record of surveys on either block, in an old area. I said $8,800 and three weeks.?ÿ
His counter proposal was two weeks and $4,800 because he "has never paid more than $1,900 for a survey." I told him we are not on the same page and I withdrew my proposal.
Two weeks? Wait until he finds out some of the firms in Tucson are telling clients maybe in August.
Three weeks is sort of a minimum time for me if I had nothing new coming in at the time. I desire time to digest the history after discovery of what that is.........completely.
Bruce Small: when he comes back, tell him $10,800 for wasting your time and being a jerk (and still no sooner than five weeks).
Why do clients think our terms are negotiable?
And the price goes up if you want it quicker.
This is not a swap meet
I like your response; "we are not on the same page".
I'm seeing more potential buyer requests for surveys. Unless they are an existing client with a good track record I don't even respond anymore.
Requests from owners only.
It's one of my first questions; "I don't see your name as the owner in the county GIS, did you just buy this property?"
He is "thinking of buying"
I doubt that this person is really a serious buyer of 2 apartment sites if he is expecting a survey for $1900, or even $4800. Just a trifler.
Imagining a conversation with my dentist: What? $250 to pull my tooth and a week from next Tuesday is the soonest date? Hey, Doc. I've got a crisp new uncirculated $100 bill that can be yours if you do it today.
LOL
Do people price shop other professionals?
Hi, I'm having a problem with my neighbor and was told I need an attorney, how much do you charge?
What!? You want a $10,000 retainer and you'll let me know when you need more!?
I just want to squash him; can't you do it for less?
The sad part is; he carry's no liability. Surveyors monument their mistakes and carry ALL the liability...
