While updating my CCR registration, the web application flagged the Product Service Code (PSC) I've been using -- C218 (A/E - SURVEYING) -- as invalid. I downloaded the PSC database, and see that C218 was ended in 1999, but that has never interfered with my registration in past years.
I searched for a current PSC pertaining to surveying, and found none. The closest thing I could find was C219 (A/E General: Other). That seems like an awfully useless category name. Has anyone identified a more appropriate PSC for professional land surveying services?
Thanks.
Haven't been directly involved in federal contracting in many years. Decided it is time to reeducate myself. Appears technology has improved the system and the position of surveyors is regressing at the same time. I found the online manual "Product and Service Codes Manual, August 2011 Edition (pdf) " as well as several searchable databases. It appears to me that, unless it is property boundary related, surveying is considered an incidental service. Something provided as a part of a larger contract and not requiring a specialized code.
Only found only two codes, F012 Survey Line Clearing Services and R404 Support- Professional: Land Surveys-Cadastral (Non-Construction) that relate directly to land surveying. Found nothing in the construction codes directly relating to surveying. Searching with "map" produced a number of codes related to publication of maps none of which were specific to surveying.
