I might buy a lottery ticket of some kind maybe once or twice per year.?ÿ Today seemed like a good time to get one.
Earlier this afternoon I heard a tap-tap-tap on my door.?ÿ Standing there was a fellow I had never seen in my life.?ÿ He spoke my name and then asked, "Is that you?"?ÿ When I confirmed his thought, he told me his name.?ÿ That was too familiar.?ÿ He owed me money.?ÿ He pulled out the paperwork he had received from District Court and we came to an agreement.?ÿ He reached into a different pocket and pulled out a wad of cash that would choke a horse.?ÿ Tens, twenties, fifties and a couple of hundreds totaling up to over a thousand dollars.
Tomorrow I will contact the Court to wrap things up and get him in the clear.
We had a very amiable conversation.?ÿ He works construction work, mainly carpentry, that sends him all around the country for varying periods of time, depending on the size of the job.?ÿ If a new job is ready to go, he leaves wherever he is and heads to the new site without coming home.?ÿ He is finally back home for the first time in over eight months.
Was his name Powerball?
The knock at my door today was less hair raising.?ÿ It was Adam( I met his wife Mabel Last year this time, when I moved in as Covid was unfolding and havent seen them except in a passing car and a wave since). He did not have any money, but wanted permission to climb over the rockwall( its a new mexico thing...blame the Spanish) on occcasion to get their son's toys when they left the confines of their side of said rockwall.?ÿ Socially distanced, I said "Sure thing, in fact just use the gate because there's no good reason to scale the rockwall when you can just walk on in."
Yeah, you had a good interaction.?ÿ I have a security camera and a loudspeaker for people I don't know or recognize.?ÿ Many phone absorbed solicitors have been asked the question "How can I help you?" and slightly shocked, abruptly raise their gaze from the device and back away from the door and make retreat to the sidewalk or street and never come back.
Glad he was able to get back home and close the loose ends. Amiably.

Back in the day (whenever that was)?ÿ I used to joke with my buddies that if you were looking for a good time find a willing pregnant woman.?ÿ First, she was experienced.?ÿ Second, there was zero chance of getting her pregnant.?ÿ Third, the odds she would go telling on you to the baby daddy should be quite low.?ÿ But, I always added a caveat.?ÿ If you plan to play in someone else's playground, make absolutely certain you know what they look like.?ÿ That way you can plan your get away as you see them approach.
That's one of the hazards of suing someone you have never met.?ÿ The fellow today might have been planning a very different kind of meeting with me and I would have been caught totally off guard and vulnerable.
