Bought a lottery ticket today
I might buy a lottery ticket of some kind maybe once or twice per year. Today seemed like a good time to get one.
Earlier this afternoon I heard a tap-tap-tap on my door. Standing there was a fellow I had never seen in my life. He spoke my name and then asked, “Is that you?” When I confirmed his thought, he told me his name. That was too familiar. He owed me money. He pulled out the paperwork he had received from District Court and we came to an agreement. He reached into a different pocket and pulled out a wad of cash that would choke a horse. Tens, twenties, fifties and a couple of hundreds totaling up to over a thousand dollars.
Tomorrow I will contact the Court to wrap things up and get him in the clear.
We had a very amiable conversation. He works construction work, mainly carpentry, that sends him all around the country for varying periods of time, depending on the size of the job. If a new job is ready to go, he leaves wherever he is and heads to the new site without coming home. He is finally back home for the first time in over eight months.
