GNSS Signals APP?
Posted by plumb-bill on January 13, 2020 at 4:10 pmAnyone know of a good iPhone app to show the phone??s GNSS signal status? I??m mostly just curious to see what signals the phone is capable of receiving. My old phone finally went kaput so I picked up a new 11, I think it is supposed to receive Galileo? Performance in urban downtown does seem much better than my old 6s.

Search for the Geo++ RINEX Logger . This app will log the raw carrier cycles for post processing outside the US. It’s really alarming that we cannot use this feature within the US because you cannot get a phone that will log the carrier, while folks outside the US can buy phones that will log the carrier. I tried finding a solution to this problem, but gave up. Seeing your post got me back on this issue. Maybe someone has an answer? Like I said, I’ve been in touch with people around the world that can post process 3D positions better than a decimeter. Why can’t we do that here inside the US?
Looks like that one is android only.
Yes, BUT, the androids within the US have a different processor chip than the ones outside the US.
OK, good to know. My original question was about iphone 🙂
Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack your question. There are tons of apps these days that will do what you’re asking for, like GPS Test.
Thanks, but it’s not available for iPhone, either. Looked for it first.
I think I found what I’m looking for with “Geode Connect”.
edit: nope, it’s for external GNSS receivers
I’m pretty sure that Apple does not allow access to those interesting data about what the iPhone’s GNSS receiver is doing (and I say this as an iPhone user).
