Who has experience in Civil3D 2015 and parcel closures?
Here’s the problem I’m running in to.
To generate the closures necessary to submit with my maps, I am using the Parcel feature in AutoCAD Civil3D 2015. And it works really well. Except…
I need to have my closure reports show angles to the nearest second and distances to the nearest hundredth. Which is no problem to accomplish by setting my Ambient Settings to display that.
However, in doing that, it reduces the precision of my closures. For nice shapes, like rectangles and such, it isn’t a problem. But for complex shapes, especially when I have multiple compound curves with small radii and such, the little “rounding errors” will creep in. This normally only results in a closure error of 2 to 3 hundredths at the most. And the precision is at least 1 in 50,000.
But, one of the agencies with which I’m working refuses to accept this “large misclosure” because if the closure is not less than 1 hundredth, the map isn’t “technically correct”.
Now, if I change my ambient settings to show the angles to the nearest 10th of a second and distances to the thousandth, the “closure error” drops to well under the desired hundredth. But, then my report shows all of the courses to this degree of accuracy, and the person checking the map won’t accept them.
So, my question is, does anyone know how to get the closure reports to have the nice, tight closure that I get from the 0.1″ and 0.001′ precision settings, but still have the report display only to 1″ and 0.01′?
Alternatively, if someone can point me to a section of California Code that states that the “closure error” doesn’t have to be under 0.01′ as long as the precision is 1:50,000 or better (or whatever it may be). this would work as well.
thanks in advance!
