Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia

The Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia is the state’s primary professional association for land surveyors. Its roots go back to a 1947 organizing meeting of 33 surveyors at Georgia Tech, which formed the Georgia Association of Registered Land Surveyors; the group became the Georgia Association of Registered Professional Land Surveyors in 1964 and took its present name in 1972 as surveyors’ work expanded into mapping and geospatial practice.

SAMSOG maintains local chapters across Georgia, a career and networking center for job postings, continuing education resources, and a members’ forum. It holds an annual meeting and a summer convention, and works on state legislative and regulatory matters affecting surveyors.
