Society of Land Surveyors of Iowa

The Society of Land Surveyors of Iowa is the primary professional association representing licensed land surveyors and surveying technicians across the state. Founded in 1957 in Ames, the organization focuses on protecting the public’s interest in land through accurate survey work grounded in historical records, legal boundary evidence, and sound field practice.

SLSI offers membership tiers spanning full professional membership, surveyor-in-training, surveying technician, sustaining, associate, honorary, and life categories. Its programming includes an annual conference and a January workshop, along with a career center connecting employers and job seekers in surveying. Day-to-day administration is handled by a contracted association management firm.
