District of Columbia Association of Land Surveyors

The District of Columbia Association of Land Surveyors, founded in 2001, is the membership organization for land surveyors working in and around Washington, D.C. Its purpose is to advance the sciences of surveying and mapping within the District, educate the public about the value of surveying, promote performance standards, and strengthen working relationships between surveyors and District government agencies.

DCALS holds regular member meetings through the fall, winter, and spring, and runs an annual educational seminar covering topics such as boundary retracement, expert witness testimony, and professional ethics. Its board includes a director position tied to the National Society of Professional Surveyors, and the association reported a membership of roughly 116 in 2023.
