TSC3 just died. What to do?

Hi guys

I just got quoted £2200 to repair my TSC3. It's probably not worth it. I'm a one man band doing robotic work with an S7. I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment. What are my options? Do I have to bite the bullet and get a TSC5 or are there cheaper options?

Thanks in advance.

Can you buy the new Trimble data collector on a payment plan? Raise your billing rate a few pesos per hour to pay for it.

Cheaper might be a Carlson Survey branded data collector. Downside would be making sure it will communicate with your equipment and learning new software. Carlson support is excellent, so there is a plus.

A couple of months ago I bit the bullet and got a TSC5, but it wasn't cheap. 7650 euros. You can look for an old TSC3 on ebay, get yours refurbished and have one and a spare. That should keep you going for many years. You can also look at the TDC600 which you can try to pry mine out of my cold dead hands but I doubt you will succeed. It was about 3150 euros but that did not include the module to connect to the TS. It doesn't have a hard keyboard (cell phone type keyboard), but it's very good otherwise. I would go with the 600 unless you're only doing engineering topos, the TSC5 will be better for that.
