It has come to my attention that a thread in another forum is giving the impression that you must "pay dues" to use our website. Let's be clear:
SurveyorConnect / BeerLeg is FREE and you are not required to pay anything to view, register or participate!
Yes, we post occasionally asking for help with expenses. But please do not feel pressured to donate. That is certainly not our intent. Do we appreciate the help? Yes, of course. Do we require you to send money? Hell no.
There have been a few instances where people emailed me and apologized for not sending more because they were low on cash for whatever reason. No need to apologize! We'd rather you didn't send money if you need it. Please don't send anything to us that will take food off your family's table or put you in a strained situation. That's not what we want.
All that said, we do immensely appreciate the assistance we've received. Please understand that there are other ways we can receive support that don't require you to send us any money. For instance, there are several people out there that use various topics here for their seminar presentations, newsletters, etc. and they point out where they found the information. This is a great benefit to us and it's not just the presenter that is supporting us by referencing us in front of a room full of other surveyors -- the people that contributed to the post itself are supporting us by providing the content in the first place. So if you can't (or don't want to) send money, just remember that you can support us in other ways. 🙂
We aren't owned by a large corporation (such as, oh, I don't know, a magazine publisher?), so we don't have access to marketing or maintenance budgets. We have to find other ways of supporting the forum.
To reiterate, you are not required to send any money to us to use this forum! Don't believe the rumors.

When you are the best and #1 site for surveying discussions and info as you pointed out, others are going to take cheap shots at you.

If there was another website anywhere in the world that was as useful and helpful to me as this one is (and as easy to use), I would be happy to voluntarily send them money also. Thank you for what you do!
