The Engineering Assistant III participates in plat review, public land survey system corner preservation, county road right-of-way retracement, and public assistance within the Deschutes County Surveyor??s Office.?ÿThis position reports to the County Surveyor.?ÿ?ÿKey Responsibilities:
- Compiling and analyzing CAD files for field inspection of plats.
- Researching records filed in the Deschutes County Surveyor??s Office.
- Searching for public land corners and accessories.
What You Will Bring:
Knowledge of or experience with:
- Leica Captivate survey software.
- Autodesk Civil 3D drafting software.
- Subdivision development and platting procedures.
Skill in:
- Effective communication.
- Field surveying techniques to establish horizontal and vertical control networks.
- Planning and coordinating projects within the Department and with outside public and private agencies.

Compensation
$4,587.05 to $5,855.59 per month for a 172.67 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union-represented position is available immediately.

- High school graduation or equivalency;
- AND four (4) years experience in technical engineering and/or surveying, engineering or drafting college coursework; or satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training as determined by the hiring authority.?ÿ
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of a Bachelor??s degree in surveying or a related field.
Necessary Special Requirements
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.
