Do you know any good advertisers?

Those little cartoons got me to looking through the magazines.

I wonder how much civil contractors spend on Trimble and Topcon equipment each year or with software developers compared to small and medium size land surveying firms. To attract advertisers the people that spend money with them are the same ones you need to attract.

I shot an email to TraversePC.

Yes.  They should also award certificates of education for our many hours/days/weeks of actually helpful and valuable continuing education earned and provided here.

Amen, Brother Brad, amen.

I mentioned Beerleg to E-38 Survey Solutions

@james-vianna Thank you! 🙂

I don't know if this has been discussed before but what about charging a small subscription fee to be a member? Are there precedents for this with other websites?

It seems a few thousand members paying a small fee (and many donate anyway) would go along way towards covering maintenance costs and a well deserved salary of sorts.

Anyone could read posts, but if you want to write your own, or private message a member, you have to lay down a few bucks a year to join the club.

This may be really unpopular and maybe doesn't exist on any other website - I don't know..Just an idea that occurred to me.

I have to admit, I've thought about adding a paywall. But I think what would happen is that most people just wouldn't join, and there'd be maybe 20 people participating. The traffic would die down because of the small amount of participation, thus the helpful threads that are indexed by search engines would be few. There's be little reason to visit, thus little reason to pay for access... this is just my theory, of course, since I haven't actually tried it.

It's an amazing idea, but I'm just not sure it would work. And it would be painful to learn that lesson, I'm afraid.

However, there is an opt-in BeerLeggers Club available for those that do want to have a paid membership with a few bennies. 🙂 Note: This is a new feature and I haven't marketed it at all yet.
