Do you know any good advertisers?

Page 1 of 3Next

As you may have already noticed, our advertisers are dwindling. This is likely because I just don't have time to market our advertising services right now. We have great click ratios and impressions; I just don't have the time for marketing campaigns.

I have a web development and maintenance service to run, and I'm busier than I've ever been -- I've even had to hire an employee, just to barely keep up. This is a good problem to have, but not necessarily for SurveyorConnect.

In order to keep SurveyorConnect up and running, I have to spend time with maintenance, moderation, responding to support issues, software updates, etc. Not to mention the hard costs of hosting, software, security, etc. This is mostly done without compensation.

This is not a plea for donations. They are appreciated, of course, and they do help. However, it's the advertising dollars that truly pay for our time and costs. Well, they did for a while anyway.

The reason I'm posting is that maybe you can help SurveyorConnect with your advertiser referrals. If you know or work with any businesses that sell products or services to Land Surveyors, perhaps you could tell them about us. I'd be happy to pay a percentage as a finder's fee. 🙂

I believe that advertising on SurveyorConnect is an effective marketing solution for businesses that offer products and services to Land Surveyors.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your help! 🙂

Is there an easy way to see who already advertises with you?

Might save time, in the long run...

You're doing a great job! Keep up the good work!

Yes, under the Advertise menu. ????

BUMP TO TOP

IMPORTANT THREAD

By the way,

I'm not sure why anyone advertises in the few surveying magazines left.  This is most definitely where they need to target their advertising budget.

Meanwhile, some of us could break lose with $10 to $20 per month as a thank you to the nice couple who do without certain things in life to make sure this site is up and running.  Others in this group could donate $100 to $200 per month and never feel it.  Some could even do more than that based on the benefit to the large number of surveyors they employ who SHOULD be spending time here every week.

Spread the word.

Thank you, @holy-cow, for bringing this to the top.

FWIW, I just slashed the prices yesterday, to about a third of what they used to be. I'm hoping that this will help smaller companies find their way into the market.

I've been consulting with a marketing genius, successful business owner, and a good friend. Many of you here know him, but I'm not going to name any names. He's helped me to better understand the advertising industry and provided me with his blunt, right-to-the-point advice recently and in the past. I have another friend that I talk to on Slack every day, who is also a marketing genius and sees many things that I miss -- he also builds websites and has many terrific ideas. Between these two fellers, I've got a pretty good team helping me find this website's groove.

So, you may find some things missing and some things added, with more changes to come. None of this affects the forums, other than finding ways to fund it and keep it going. The forums continue to function normally.

Our biggest competition is the plethora of Facebook groups. There's a ton of them and they are very popular. The problem with them is that there's little to no moderation in most of them, and stuff gets out of control often. There's also a lot of fluff in those groups -- in contrast, this website is 99% helpful, useful information among fellow professionals and friends. I dunno about you, but I like it that way. Facebook sucks, especially when you consider all the privacy concerns. You don't have to worry about that here.

Anyway, there's an update for you. I've been pretty concerned about where things were going, so that's why I started getting serious and contacting my close and smart friends for advice.

Bump to top AGAIN

Some here really need to read Wendell's latest message.

1% ~ Whenever Brad Ott is posting some nonsense.  But, ya gotta love the kid.  Heƒ??s a sweetheart.  😉

@brad-ott

I think Brad is too far behind an ape and a bovine in posting nonsense to claim that %.

I'll second Bill's comment.

When I was a youngster my Dad would receive Successful Farming and Farm Journal magazines.  Serious information all about farming.  But, they included a few little cartoons.  One percent nonsense.

Those little cartoons got me to looking through the magazines.

One of those little cartoons was called Ada the Ayrshire, featuring Ada the cow.  One cartoon I will never forget has her sticking her head through the fence to eat the greener grass on the other side.  She looks down the fence and sees a cow on the other side sticking her head through to eat the greener grass on Ada's side.  That message compares to the classic survey cartoon of the guy behind the desk dreaming of being back out in the field while those in the field are dreaming of each level of advancement to get to the desk job.
