@richard-germiller The former Mohave County Surveyor moved to Oregon I believe about that time.?ÿ He was also on the Arizona licensing Board.
We lost Doug Crawford about 3-1/2 years ago just a few days before his 75th birthday, about a month after his son died.
Me , him and Daniel S. McCabe called ourselves "Birthday Buddies" because our birthdays are the same day of the same month.
?ÿ
Christie Otchingwanigan is now Christie Corbine on FB.?ÿ Seems to be doing well.
Not a former contributor but does anybody know the whereabouts of Dr. Joseph Bell, an HP41C expert who published Survey Calculations Journal for a few years in the seventies, which enthralled me and profitably improved the way I did construction layout work.?ÿ Met him a coupla times at seminars and he was witty, inquisitive and engaging.
Anyway, he'd be about 85 now and dropped off the radar concerning software reviews in the late 2000s.?ÿ His bio is quite interesting:
Joe Bell PLS?ÿ?ÿ
does anyone have contact information for Joe Bell.?ÿ I have most of the Survey Calculations Journals and would rather scan and make available versus tossing same.?ÿ I would like to gain his permission to do so and honor his copyright.?ÿ Plus, some of the youngsters here would get some background on how their field and office programs were developed.
Some of us spent all night keying in those programs in our 41's learning the steps those programs took us on to arrive at the answer.
Bill McComber obituary added to rest-in-peace.
As President of the PLSC Bill gave me the Citizen - Surveyor Award in 1998. I am still trying to earn it!
Ryan Versteeg was a surprise. Much too young.
And I worry about those who I don't see posting anymore even though they may still be alive like Richard Abbott and Derek Graham.
Derek is alive. Still surveying too.
?ÿ
I last spoke w/ Derek ~2015 as he was hoping to wind things down a bit.?ÿ He had (I believe) a former Toronto Maple Leaf player who, basically, wanted to do a day or two a week as an I-man.?ÿ He liked the physical exercise and would go out w/ Derek for the fun of it.?ÿ He was getting older and was talking of scaling back his field work, but I doubt his resolve would let him.?ÿ Great guy to talk shop with.?ÿ I hope to see him next year at the AGM.
@jaccen?ÿ
Always enjoyed Derek's posts.?ÿ All of them from strictly surveying to running around in a kilt while raising dogs.?ÿ Also a great sense of humor (humour).
I do recall Richard Schaut inviting a confrontational poster to: ??please observe the mistletoe hanging from my belt? once upon a time. It was on the old POB site, many moons ago.
RIP Richard.?ÿ ?????ÿ
A certain County employee is retiring and the staff are having a retirement party for her.?ÿ She has a special broom she rides on Halloween.?ÿ Yesterday, I was explaining to another fellow whose experience with her has been as equally frustrating as mine that he really needs to attend.?ÿ I have two doctor appointments that day and, sadly, will be unable to attend.?ÿ I strongly recommended that while he attends the party he should give her a really big smooch and say he was delivering it from me.?ÿ Before he could recoil at the thought, I added that it would be best if she would bend over first.
