So I started a training course to prepare for this by MzeroA. Has anyone taken this course to prepare for the test. I started today and got through the 1st set of modules. Started the 2n module but was having to do other task so will continue over the holidays. How long does it take to get through and is this enough information to pass the exam once completed.
I didn't take that course but I did take a 1 day course filled with a bunch of information. Be able to read charts well, know the radio communications, and know the various restrictions on airspace (altitudes) and you should be able to pass. The test allows a lot to be missed and still get a passing result. A few questions on airport traffic patterns also.
I had zero background knowledge in that area before going after my Part 107, except for maybe doing AGIS surveys. I found the exam to be pretty easy after taking one of the online prep courses. I think I spent a day or two running through all the modules, then signed up and took my test the next week and passed without difficulty.
If the course is reputable, you'll be fine, it will give you all the info needed to pass.
Thanks y’all. I should be able to get through the modules then and be prepared. I will be out of town helping on a project that has a short time frame to complete so a hour or so at night in hotel should get me ready for the exam then. Yea on charts. Will het back familiar with those.
I would simply download the FAA part 107 study guide. All the questions are related to that material.
The charts, weather, and airspace are kinda tricky but I don't know many people who have failed it the first time. I wouldn't spend too much for courses if you don't have to. I think you could study the FAA material free for a week or two and pass the test. They added a larger pool of questions awhile back but I've always found the tests to be pretty common sense with an emphasis on safety, operations, and regulations more than technical stuff like weather or charts.
Questions about whether you're safe to operate within certain controlled airspace or what steps would be required to do so are common. In my opinion it's a test that requires a general knowledge of the whole thing more than specific detailed questions. It's multiple choice and common sense allows you to rule out poor answers for some questions.
Hey thanks.
