The coach of Texas is starting to get frustrated it seems. Yesterday it was reported that he had a coaches meeting and told them "Look, when one player is not responding then I can change him but when we have 3 or more then I will replace you."

PS-I went bike riding yesterday. Do you Texans want back the darned tumbleweeds that were blowing across Oklahoma? I had to stop several times and clear the bike.

Yeah, Mack has some problems it seems and wants to blame someone else.

Now, those damned tumbleweeds will be growing in Oklahoma thanks to you! LOL

My younger brother has cancer and wanted to drive old Route 66 from Chicago to LA after he finished his chemo this past spring. We did and man did we dodge a lot of those giant tumbleweeds rolling across the "Mother Road" going through the Texas Panhandle! I think some were still in the grill when we got to Santa Monica Pier in LA.

Go Ducks!! Go Beavers!! (Sorry, I have to root for the Oregon teams!)

That's nothin', Deral!! You should see the tumbleweeds in Arizona!! Some are bigger than a car and were NOT fun running into. Fortunately my truck had a nice grill guard but my other little car well...it didn't fare so well. 😐

Mickey, how is your brother doing?? I bet that trip was a blast!! I've always wanted to drive the full length of Route 66. Farthest I made it was to AZ, but I sure saw a lot of it in it's California and Arizona routes. Wendells grandma lived a mile or so away from the Tee-Pee motels on Route 66 and we'd stay there when visiting. Cute little things I must admit!! 😀

Hey Angel, my brother is doing great, gained a little over half the weight back he lost due to the chemo, went from 185lbs to 135lbs back to 165lbs now and he is 6'1" tall. We ate nothing but BBQ, fried chicken, chicken fried steaks, corn dogs and lots and lots of Mexican food along the trip except for the mandatory stop at the Big Texan Steak House in Amarillo. No, we did not try to eat the FREE 72oz steak ($72 if you don't eat it and ALL the fixins within 60 minutes). We opted for the 50th Anniversary 18oz steak (1/4 of the 72oz version) and had no problems with it at all.
We did not stay at the famous WigWam Motel, actually there are 2 of them still in operation on the Mother Road, one in AZ and another one in CA. However we had stayed at the one in AZ when we were kids and made the route 66 trip from OKC to LA with our parents back in the 60s. The trip was fantastic and I would recommend it for anyone, but plan on taking at least 10 days to do it right and don't bother with GPS, find some old highway maps to combine with new maps and use one or more of the good Route 66 guide books. If you look at the trip link you will find a picture of a pretty cool statute of a land surveyor on Route 66 in the City of Moriarty, NM.

With all of that yummy food, no wonder he gained some of his weight back!! 🙂

The Wigwam in Rialto, Calif is where we stayed. The owners were very nice to us. Horrible area now, though!! Wayyyyy too many gangs and crime.

I just looked through your pics. I like that BIG cow outside that steak restaurant. He's cute!! And the spray painted cars, the giant cross, the giant rocking chair, the Carr Phillips station in Cuba, the Marsh Arch Bridge, The Blue Whale, the beautiful old churches & courthouses, etc... you got great pics!! 🙂

The Texas tumble weeds I remember from my early years were large and many. They would be piled high against fences far and wide. Those that would slip away were rolling fast and free across highways and byways.

Have not seen them around here for years as they have been replaced by pines.

There are some north of I30

You have to go north or west of the DFW area to find most of them now.

Yeah, I actually did not need to gain any more weight, but I took one for my lil bro! LOL
We had a GREAT time and I am glad you enjoyed the pics. I never finished putting all of them on the website and those are just my pics, my brother has more that are not on there. I ended up doing almost all of the driving as well since he was not quite fully recovered from the chemo effects at the time, but he fine now.
