Chew on these for a while! 😉
1. Five surveyors were eating flagging, A finished before B, but behind C. D finished before E, but behind B. What was the finishing order?
2. A bad guy is playing Russian roulette with a six-shooter revolver. He puts in one bullet, spins the chambers and fires at you, but no bullet comes out. He gives you the choice of whether or not he should spin the chambers again before firing a second time. Should he spin again?
3. Radar says the day before two days after the day before tomorrow is Saturday. What day is it today?
4. After a brief snack in the cow patty fun pasture Holy Cow meets a lion and unicorn in the forest. The lion lies every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the other days he speaks the truth. The unicorn lies on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and the other days of the week he speaks the truth. “Yesterday I was lying,” the lion told the girl. “So was I,” said the unicorn. What day is it?
3=Friday. The “day before tomorrow” is today; “the day before two days after” is really one day after.
4's got something to do with lying on the day that they say they are lying so it's the truth; or something like that. Google wasn't any help...
1 & 2 made my head hurt
C,A,B,D,E
Spin again. The chance of finding the live bullet will be 1 in 6. If you don't it's 1 in 5.
Today is Friday
2. Don't spin again. That chamber is empty.
"1 & 2 made my head hurt"
I zone out just reading them so I just leave it up to y'all. 😎
Norman was doing pretty well but didn't finish the list.
1. C,A,B,D,E
2. Spin. Most revolvers will advance to the next chamber as the trigger is pulled. The bullet is in one of 5 chambers. If you spin it is in one of 6 chambers. Does Monty Hall have anything to do with this? His door problem is one of the most discussed in all probability.
3. Friday. See Radar's explanation.
4. Thursday. The Lion tells truth on Thursday but lies on Wednesday so is correct when he says he was lying yesterday. The unicorn lies on Thursday and tells truth on Wednesday, so he is lying in his statement.
2. Spin. Most revolvers will advance to the next chamber as the trigger is pulled. The bullet is in one of 5 chambers. If you spin it is in one of 6 chambers. Does Monty Hall have anything to do with this? His door problem is one of the most discussed in all probability.
The "Let's Make a Deal" Monty Hall thing doesn't play into this, if I understand correctly.
It's the same principal. Pulling the trigger or opening one door changes the odds for the next try. Here you would rather not change the odds so choose to re-randomize.
