Considering replacing my current 11-year old (no longer O/S upgradable) with a new one. I will be running Matlab and some of its toolboxes.
I have read comments that the M1-chip version runs slow and is a battery hog. Any personal experience with the M1 Pro chip using non-Mac S/W to solve computationally intensive problems? ?ÿ
Looking at the 14-inch MBP ??

Using a MacBook Air with M1, pretty happy with how snappy it is. I don't, however use it for programming or processing as I have a windows work computer for that. Overall the M1 chip is pretty fast (overall tasks) due to its integrated nature, however specific programmes could run slower. I'm not sure if Matlab runs natively and this is the issue?

Edit: I believe there's a version out now for it?
Thanks for the link. Quite useful. I ran Parallels on a previous Mac and liked it.?ÿ
Glad your are happy with the M1. What makes the MBP more appealing to me is that it includes a number of physical ports. Why it even includes a headphone jack??
