That wasn't all they did, by a long shot. They would have survived that, IMO. It's a fading memory, but my recollection is that it became way too complicated to follow new postings and create new ones.
So... a little backstory/reminder...
The reason I didn't originally consider Option #2 at all is basically because it's EXACTLY what POB did when they converted rpls.com to a new system -- which, as many of you will recall, is when beerleg.com was born. It makes me nervous, because I don't want to make the same mistake.
it would be sad to have our post counts get reset and all, but I can’t imagine any downside to #2.
as long as I can go and read a Kent post every so often and remind myself just how humble I am, then all is good

The tech background in me craves option 1; it is pedantically "correct." I guess I'm also the person who revives old threads (when I think appropriate, not randomly). I see that option 2 has overwhelming popularity here... Either way, I appreciate the great forum and community here. I think the great community (with your facilitation and enabling) will make either option work well.

Oh my, that is an issue I had not considered. Thank you for bringing that up! IMHO, that's very important.

Exactly, which is why I automatically went in that direction. 🙂

Yes, please.
Ya gotta save all of Paden's stories!
Yes, of course. Even if the old forum threads get archived, they'll still be publicly available and linkable.
