Or just the "Somebody is wrong on the internet" need to "correct."
The most flexible trees are the ones that survive the hurricane.?ÿ Don't dish it out if you can't take it, yourself.
As I kid I probably knew every fat joke that existed.?ÿ I was a fat kid.?ÿ Being able to joke about it was a great defense.
One's personal view of the world is no better than someone else's view of the world.?ÿ Of course, that other person may be a fool, but, that does not automatically mean your view is superior.

...Of course, that other person may be a fool, but, that does not automatically mean your view is superior.?ÿ
I originally wasn't going to address this thread as everyone seems to have a good handle on things.?ÿ But our resident bovinean sage's reply got me thinking.
I personally try to "talk" on the internet just as if I were face to face.?ÿ In day to day physically social interactions everyone should be challenged to find common ground with others.?ÿ The postman doesn't care about my latest survey, nor does the clerk at Wynn-Dixie.?ÿ We all constantly face interactions with others where we are either above or below the mental consciousness and abilities of others.?ÿ In that light we owe it to each other to be as pleasant and understanding as we can be with others.?ÿ Your kindergarten teacher should have taught you that.?ÿ
But for some inexplicable reason hiding behind a screen and keyboard brings out a Jekyll & Hyde response in some folks.?ÿ Rather than a normal conversation some people resort to something more similar to what an ex-lover might key-scratch on your car in a deserted parking lot.?ÿ ?ÿ
Good job here Wendell & Angel.?ÿ I believe most of us here appreciate your efforts.?ÿ
?ÿ
HE has spoken.?ÿ Amen.
????
?ÿ
Oops.?ÿ That might have been sacrilegious.?ÿ Perhaps too close to religious.?ÿ Sorry, everyone.

I don??t understand why the complainant does not contact the poster rather than whining unnecessairly to the Administrators. ?????ÿ
It's because his complaint isn't with the poster; it's with admin: Why does he get to post his liberal hate, when my MAGA crap gets removed...
It's a crazy spiral going up and down.
Of course, that other person may be a fool, but, that does not automatically mean your view is superior.
So. Much. Truth.
I've also been accused of deleting more posts from one side of the aisle than the other. I do not remove posts because of my own beliefs -- I remove them because they violate the rules, regardless of whether or not I agree or disagree with the removed content.
If one side of the aisle posts more violating posts than the other side, then yeah, I guess I have deleted more of their posts.
Not everyone can be like me.?ÿ I'm a Democrat, Republican, Prohibitionist, Bullmoose, Whig, Libertarian, Populist, Independent, Greenback sort of person.
Today it is often difficult to reply to post without someone believing your post is political. I have twice used the phrase ??not to be political? in replying to Survey Related post. One, relating to Covid, which caused some disdain. Turns out, we now know that what I intended as a hopeful positive, was indeed just that and not a political jabs against the incorrect information being disseminated at the time. My second was concerning the relationship between the economy around 2008 and now. I would ask what phrase I should use, besides ??not to be political? but the answer might be to not comment at all. My quickly typed replies don??t often contain the well thought out reasoning of how they will interpreted beyond what I actually meant. Even though the economy, Covid, inflation, weather, tax increases, fuel cost and supply chain, are heated political issues, they do greatly effect Surveyors. I would hope our shared discussions of these issues would be beneficial, honest, accepted and tolerated. If I say something you feel offended by, please say so, you will probably get a sincere apology.
??As I kid I probably knew every fat joke that existed.?ÿ I was a fat kid.?ÿ Being able to joke about it was a great defense.?
Me too, 13yrs/5??1?/200+lbs. I learned a lot about hate and those proficient in dishing out insults. Then I was either, unknowingly struck by lightning, or a massive dose of testosterone broke loose from who knows where, and poof! Was ??normal?, insults vanished.
Actually HC, the only thing I actually remember when being a ??fatty? was all the ??comedians? making the remarks had yellow and brown tooths (not a complete set of teeth) along with a prestigious scholarship IQ almost, but not quite, equal their age. ?????ÿ
@flga-2-2?ÿ
The only thing worse than mean little boys is mean little girls.?ÿ Vicious, cut-to-the-bone types, especially when they hit the age of discovering boys might be of some use to them.
I practice a LOT watching what I say when I chat with people during the day.?ÿ My practice is derived from working in mostly rural agrarian areas where 99% of the property owners (the term "farmer" is really not applicable anymore) I run into probably don't share my political views.?ÿ And for some unknown reason a good majority of these folks force an "us or them" declaration from me within just a few minutes of conversation.?ÿ
Although I try to never lie to anyone, I can be very slippery with spoken words.?ÿ I used to joke about carrying two ball caps in the truck...one red and one blue.?ÿ Practice makes perfect. Knowing when to put on which one has kept me alive so far.... ;)?ÿ
The correct color cap is neither of those.?ÿ
Like the joke about the "Troubles" in Northern Ireland, when somebody put a gun in your back and asked "Protestant or Catholic" the correct answer was "Jewish."
There is the truth and then there is the WHOLE truth.?ÿ I'm pretty good at being truthful without sharing the WHOLE truth.?ÿ That can save your neck in a tense situation.
There was time about 15 years ago where I was passed over for quite a few surveying opportunities because people chose to assume that I held a certain view of a locally hot topic.?ÿ I never admitted to anyone the WHOLE truth.?ÿ But, I became an expert listener to let them pontificate at length.?ÿ Clearly, they each had a valid reason for believing what they believed.?ÿ Whether or not I fully agreed with them should have no impact on whether or not they could trust me to provide a professional service.
