I am in my mid-50s and now have a job I can leave at work.

As a PLS that may or may not be the case depending on where you work.?ÿ If you are working for the county, then you can likely keep "leaving your work at work" and not bring that home with you.
Good luck with your exams.?ÿ The studying doesn't stop when you pass your exams, it only just starts.?ÿ It's really a career with lifelong learning and improvement, which is part of why they require continuing education hours in most states.?ÿ There is always more to learn, and that keeps things interesting and fun in my opinion.
