Howdy all:
My name is Barry Young. I have dabbled in beginner and sub-beginner level survey work on my own with no official training. I currently own two theodolites a Kern DMK3A, and a Leitz BT20 made by Sokkisha. I also have a aledaide which I have only briefly used but look forward to using it again soon. I need a couple of parts for the Kern, a striding level and a Horrebow level.I am planning on making a full topographical map of my little 3 acres here in SE Missouri. For the last 14 years I was a professor at a large college in the Seattle area. I taught High Technology Manufacturing (CNC). I have been a Machinist and Toolmaker since 1986. We moved to a more affordable place with a MUCH better government here in SE Missouri. It took 6 round trips plus one one way to get all our junk moved to Missouri. Time to play with the survey equipment I have bought simply for fun.
Thanks for this forum, I am sure to learn a lot from you folks.
Barry
You should be able to find plenty of elevation differences in that corner of Missouri, unless you are so far southeast that you are in the bootheel. Seems as though Mark Twain Forest is everywhere.
