I'm not sure how to respond... That really sucks.?ÿ Or, maybe you can learn something... Maybe I can learn something. Just a thought, maybe a screw in type Anchor, with a cable, going up through the tripod, and Bell Housing, (Bell Housing is device that screws into the bottom of the total station, it's hollow, and has 5/8"x11 threads) Then, a lock on the end.

Here is one solution:

https://www.groundgrabba.com/

Really, it's a matter of TIME, before the grab and dash guys get to us. All of us. A mechanism to increase the "Out of car time" from 20 seconds, to 3 minutes, makes em abandon that one.

Check this out too:

https://www.amazon.com/Rittenhouse-American-Earth-Anchor-Penetrator/dp/B007K7L3KC

A device to spook a thief, could mean the difference.

Again, sorry about your loss. I think it would be funny to see em freak out too.... I am seeing more ROBOTS in semi public places get snagged, than GPS... Maybe its the market.

N

Won't help recover this instrument, but Leica is now optionally offering a tracking solution for total stations.

A friend of mine who worked at an equipment dealer had a bunch of new equipment stolen out of the back of his vehicle parked overnight at a hotel. I think it was about $175,000 worth. They got it all back from a pawn shop.?ÿ

When I worked for the big city we got a call one day from the Wild dealer in the area that someone brought in a T-16 for service that was listed as stolen from the city.?ÿ When the person who brought it in was told it was stolen he just turned around and walked out without an argument and without giving his name.
