Just upgraded to Trimble R10 GPS System. Would like to sell my current setup:
Trimble 5700 with internal receive radio w/battery also have auxllary battery hookup cable
Trimble 5800 with internal receive radio w/3 batteries
Trimmark 3 Base Radio and antenna
Trimble TSC2 Data Collector with Survey Controller. spare battery
Asking $15000 this is trade-in value
Everything is in great shape and works great. The TSC2 has the usual occasional problems, nothing a reset won't cure. Everything comes in their own pelican type cases.
Everybody needs a new GPS system! Congrats....
Just a head heads up you can pick up the same setup on ebay for around 5-7k. Model 3s going for that price.
Well, I'm not from Russia, all the radios are legal in the United States, and it's not stolen. If you buy off EBay make sure you use Paypal.
If the buyer is a legitimate purchaser I would probably personnally deliver the equipment and train you to use it. If you live in the jungle it's probably not the system for you. I gave up on EBay and bought from a Trimble dealer.
I agree, the trade-in value is greatly inflated over market.
I'm about 2 months with an R10. First time I have been using the Utah VRS.
Here is the amazing part for me. I've always kept my control points and projects tuned with OPUS and CORS before that. With the R10 and using the VRS I can upload my old files directly and go to work. I check right in to my previous control, maybe as much as 0.04 feet but right on the old control caps. All that OPUS and static work finally paying off. Only thing now is when the cell service is not very good for the hot spot but this is really a new freedom for me not having to setup and tear down the base station every day I work in the field. The R10 is quick to fix and takes fast topo shots. Trimble, after 15 years of owning TerraModel has finally made TBC a one stop software. No other CAD or survey software needed. Now if I just wasn't so old but I think I got at least another five years in me.
The Trimble Business software has been a nightmare. First I couldn't get the software to load on my computer till they released version 3.90. I ended up upgrading from an XP system to a Windows 10 laptop. I've still not been able to connect my TSC3 to my computer and download files. I had a radio problem where I couldn't get the Base radio over 300 feet with the Rover. I think we've got that problem solved. One unit still will not calibrate. Its the Base now. The OPUS routine is pretty sweet and worked right out of the box. If I was dealing with EBay I would be in a heap of shit. Evidently Trimble hasn't sold a ton of R10's because there are a few issues they haven't ironed out yet. I haven't had the units in tough terrain yet to evaluate how they perform. Why wouldn't a guy always use the Compensated Point routine? The challenge has given me something to live for now. My old system did everything I needed to do, I just couldn't let well enough alone.
We don't have a VRS in my area.

With all due respect, there are thousands of people (me included) running R10s and TBC who have not experienced ANY of those problems.

@Skeeter1996 I'm betting that you are running Creator's build 1703 on your laptop. There is a fix for that out there. Two different ones, in fact. You will need admin privileges to enact them.
Use the link below for the first fix. It involves editing the registry. I also have some notes to go along with what they say. Shoot me an email at kfairley at wds-us dot com and I will forward them to you.
The second fix is a little easier, but you may or may not have to go through these steps every time your computer is rebooted.
Click on the Windows start icon, type "computer management" and open the app. Go down to the services tab on the left and open it. Under Services, select "Windows Mobile-2003-based device connectivity" and "Windows Mobile-based device connectivity" Go to Log On and change it to Log on as "Local system account". You will have to manually stop and start both services for your machine to allow the TSC3 to authenticate.
With both fixes, it is possible that WMDC may or may not open. Watch your DC and check to ensure that you are seeing an authenticate window open. If it does and WMDC does not open, open up file explorer and you should have a drive titled "Trimble Navigation." Browse through there to find your files.

Well, it could be me. I'm trying to move my Civil3d to the new laptop and it won't accept my authorization code. Its Civil 3D 2006. The program works great. the only problem is I will only be able to use it 24 more days. Ever try to get support from Autocad lately?
That version of CAD only works on windows 98 or xp.

Well its working fine on Windows 10. It just won't accept my authorization code. Without entering an authorization code you can only use the program for 28 days. Explain that to me.
Back to the original thread, sorry but you should have taken the trade in. Most of my equipment of that age goes off to third world countries and market value on that setup right now is right around 4K. And that is only if you have firmware 2,32 on them so no GPS date issues.
I wasn't sure what it was worth. I was just testing what the market was. The trade-in value was the best I had to go by. Dealers usually screw you pretty bad on trade-ins, but it looks like that's a pretty good deal. Apparently Trimble is pretty desperate to market R10's. I guess if I don't get an offer, I'll have a good backup system.
