Teach button pushers to not be so focused on the screen while they're doing a corner search that they walk right by some old faded flagging or a lath laying over covered in dead leaves. I've been out with guys that are so focused on that controller that they walk right past evidence of an old cut line or a lump under the moss of a grown over corner. Once they get in the general search area, they should really put that thing away and open their eyes and start looking around for the feintest of sign.
Before I had my own company I ran survey for a company with two offices separated by 350 miles. One or two times a year we would meet halfway and have a two day training session with me as the instructor. That helped to make sure they were all doing things the same way.

I was training a guy, and I needed to do some notes and such, as we were retracing this short plat. I handed him the plat and gave him a starting place at the only corner we had uncovered so far, and I sent him off for "recon". About half an hour later he crawls out of the blackberries having found all the corners. I was very impressed. I miss working with him...he became an engineer...so sad.
