Another webinar scheduled on the new State Plane of 2022. To take place 20 July 2022 at 1400 to 1530 ET. Registration info on linked page.
This should be a good one. We will begin to see what it will all look like . And be able to use the Alpha version to tinker a little.
Oh no! This event is on Thursday. That’s tomorrow. Such an interesting topic…
If you use the SPCS and aren't attending this webinar, you will want to watch it when the recording is posted in about a week.
Major takeaways - a listing of proposed zone setups for all states and territories is now available on the NGS website, and the release of NATRF2022 will be in 2024. It sounds like earlier in 2024 than later.
Was not a bad little webinar. I like the fact they are allowing us to see some of the numbers and design details so we can begin to play a little and prepare for the future. I did get a good laugh on the welcoming to the Alpha Zone. . I have already sent off a few items that i see could be of issue here in my state to the association as it still has time for change. In my office today its 90 degrees. Inside my house. AC is down and its very humid. Y’all have a good one.
Good stuff.
@norman-oklahoma That's not what I heard but I was distracted a few time by kids. I heard that the finalization of the SPCS zones would likely be by the end of the year/early 2024, but still not released (unusable) until NATRF2022 itself is published. NGS personnel at the Esri UC last week stated mid-year 2025 as heard from colleagues, but one thought Q4 was more likely.
Some items that caught my and colleague's attention was a change to the transverse Mercator and Lambert CC algorithms, they have alphanumeric IDs for each zone (I assume the meters versions) but geodetic registries/software will need separate IDs for each meter/foot definition.
Something we all liked was the clean conversions between feet and meters for the false easting and northing values and I think between DMS and DD. Sweet!
That's not what I heard ...
You may well be correct. I was not listening in a pristine environment either.

I'm also really happy to see this. We've been doing it for custom LDPs for a while now, and it really helps when setting up systems on the myriad software packages we or our clients employ...
@mkennedy if I remember correctly they stated it would be completed by end of this year or beginning 2024. Then they have to send it to FGCC for approval and once that process has been completed they can release to the rest of us for actual use. But i was also distracted with emails crews calling and barking dog as the AC repair man was showing up.
I heard the bit about clean conversions for the initial point for both international feet and meters, but I didn't really follow what they were getting at. Can anyone elaborate?

For instance, in my local area, the false northing/easting of the grid origin is 375000/625000 Int'l Feet. That converts to 114300/190500 meters exactly. Whole numbers to the even hundred at both ends of the conversion.
@ashton Norman just gave you the goods. In my area the false northing and easting is in the decimal position instead of being solid at 100 or 1000 ft. Same for meters. They just made it easy for not fat fingers if you are designing your own or building a system inside the system. Also if you place that information in a plat or set of plans for metadata. Has more uses as well. They thunk ahead in that matter for sure. I think they also did the lat longs as well I can’t remember. Tis a good one to re watch when they get it uploaded online for sure.
