Utes vs. Broncos only moments away. Hey JoePa bring me another beer would ya?!
Who? Me!?
I see the first quarter was interesting, but alas I missed it, no ESPN in the Lopresti house.
Anyway I was up at my wife's church for Contemporary Band practice. One Pastor is in the hospital and I have a Christmas Eve and Sunday service to put into Power Point 2007, which I hate. The earlier versions were a joy to work with, 2007 just wants to waste my time.
We ran through rehearsal just putting the Word files on the screen. The other Pastor who retires in a month was scrambling tonight to put together his Scripture Readings for me. Typically my son would do the live Sunday performances and I do the video Saturday night service. The sick Pastor had been putting together his own services on an every other week basis until WHAM! My son is playing trumpet this weekend so I am back to recalling old methods.

Broncos kicked some Ute ass
Utah's 10-game bowl winning streak is now bygone history. Broncos are now 4-0 versus the Utes. It was a fun game to watch. Kellen Moore was awesome, and so was running back Doug Martin. Broncos wide receiver Austin Pettis threw a pass-- and caught it himself. Nice. He has caught many TD passes this year, run for a couple and thrown for a few, along with some 2-point conversions because he holds the snap on PAT's. He doesn't always drink beer, but when does he prefers Dos Equis.
Excellent college football bowl game. The stadium was totally packed, money was made(which is rare for a non-BCS bowl game). BSU travels well, and they always beat the spread (I think it was -16.5 at game time). Too bad they didn't get a rematch with Oklahoma this year.

When the Boise kicker, Kyle Brotzman, dropped that 4th down pass, I almost cried. I think the coach was trying to give him a chance to redeem himself. That was tough...
Anyway, he had a pretty good night after that...except for the blocked field goal.

It's easy to pack a stadium when it only holds 41,000. That's the capacaty at Vanderbilt, the smallest stadium in the SEC. Alabama has had over 90,000 at each of their last 4 spring games.
If the teams actually earned a profit from that game, it probably wasn't very much.
All in all, it was an impressive win for Boise State.

Thanks, Dave. This was the first time I saw it. I haven't watched ESPN very much in the past few weeks becaused I imagine they are talking a lot about Auburn. I get enough of them from the local media.
