because the Metrodome will not be repaired in time for next Monday night's game. In fact it will take all week to clear the snow and inwinterize the college field.
The two year old TCF Bank Stadium seats 50,805 but can be enlarged to 80,000.
The Hubert H Humphrey seats 64,111 for football, 50,000 for basketball and 46,564 for baseball. The goal was to get away from a multipurpose stadium. The Twins got theirs as did the Minnesota Gophers but the state ran out of money before they could build one for the Vikings. With a new roof likely to cost $20 million there are several less desirable options. The Vikings move to LA, TCF Bank Stadium gets immedially enlarged to 65,000 and the Vikings play there, the new roof gets built, they tear off the roof and play outdoors at the Metro Nodome or some gives the State of Minnesota $400 million for a new stadium.
Any which way 14,000 ticket holders will be relieved to not have to sit in the cold next week.

What happened to them playing in Detroit?
Is that just next week, or is that a long time solution?
Either way... Kudos to the State of Minnesota for saying NO!!
Monday Night, Next Week Against The Chicago Bears
I am speculating on the long term prospects. From what I read there is a long lead time for a complete roof membrane.
