The plan was simple. Over the course of a day, Weckert would walk up and down a given street, mostly at random, towing his smartphone-packed wagon behind him. The effect wasn??t instantaneous; it took Google Maps about an hour to catch up. But eventually,?ÿ

Sweet. That answers one of the few remaining (for me anyway) mysteries in life. But leads to another question i.e. how satnavs like my *.....g Navman get their traffic data.
Anyway we recently had an in country demo from a guy with a gizmo who did traffic flow studies by apparently tracking mobile phone pings.
