Well it's finally come and this avo I quit for the year, shut the door and started to wind down.
For once I was able to simply walk away from unfinished jobs, put out of my mind the needs of clients and just be "wife and me".
Too many Christmas eves I've worked my butt off trying to please those that have had ample time to organise their lives and yet inflict their sudden urge on me to start & complete what could have been done months ago if they'd asked, earlier!
So it was then onto tending to jobs that had suffered from misdirected loyalty to my dear clients.
One such job was to resurrect the music box I'd dismembered when we bought our new TV several blue moons back.
Time was limited and I had several tasks ahead
That boom box needed lifting off the floor to help reduce heat
We'd just picked up a supply of boundary pegs, freshly painted and looking too good to be sunk into the bowels of Terra Australis.
They now have a pivotal role in keeping the Christmas cheer flowing as those sweet sounds associated with the festive season roll across the scenery I call home.
So from Down Under a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2017.
Stay safe and enjoy this special time of our year.
Richard,
Merry Christmas from North Carolina, I always enjoy your post and feel that I almost have a connection to Austria, I had an employee back in the 90's that came to work for me while he was getting his support together to go back to Austria to resume his missionary support work, one of the best employees I ever had. He was upfront from the beginning that he would probably be with me for one year, I think it was more like two or three years though.

Merry Christmas to you from the Great State of Texas also! We too are closing down at 3 ish today and see ya in the new year!
Shutdown??? What the heck is that???
Some of us are like dairy farmers. There are seven days in the week and more than eight hours in the day. We take our fun when we get it, which is probably during many of the hours the rest of you are working. But, we shop when nobody else does. We attend our kids/grandkids events no matter what time they are held. We take a nap if we get in the mood. We handle personal matters at our convenience. But, we have no designated downtime on some sort of a schedule or time clock. I was on this computer between three and four this morning being productive and making darned good money doing it.

Richard lives in AUSTRALIA, not Austria!
I am sorry, I knew that, my guy would not like that either, just substitute Australia for Austria. I also know the other Richard lives there also.

That's no problem. While in the Army stationed in Germany in 1975, a fellow soldier wanted to drive his car to Australia. When I told him he couldn't do that, he said he didn't know they were 2 different countries. He also said he had recently discovered Washington, DC and Washington, the state, are separate locations!;)
Thanks fellas.
Ed I knew what you meant.
Washington! I was one of those uninformed ignoramuses who didn't see light until our daughter and family visited the states.
Here. Here I also closed for this week. I need the time to heal up some from back problems, overdose on football and
spend time with my bride.
Relaxin' in my cave, went out for supplies a few days before xmas and have not left the house since.
My son has gone on a few calls so he can keep up with his bills.
I am not planning on returning to work till a few days into the New Year.
I get to repair (god, fingers crossed) the washing machine.
We closed the 24th and open back up Jan 3, all with pay for the employees. They are going to need the rest and recovery period because 2017 is going to be gangbusters with production housing. One of our top clients is planning 100 house starts per month. The others have projections equally optimistic. Adding another crew first week in Jan. Have a feeling there ain't gonna be any "free" time in 2017. At least the income will help offset any disgruntlement. 😉

You mean your SWMBO will actually allow you to try and fix stuff? I'm not allowed to bring any implements of descruction (aka: tools) within 25 feet of the exterior perimiter of the residence. 🙁
Almost 5 years ago I combined 2 households. The remodel to accommodate the new structure started immediately. Thankfully I have hit the maintenance phase. Being closed for Christmas means rest. As soon as I adjust the door sweep, rebuild the toilet, clean the garage and fix the pump on the camper...
