Syncthing for Backup/Network/file sharing

I have been using Syncthing for a couple months, easy and simple.
I now have 6 active nodes, two off site. Together with local automated backups I feel pretty secure. https://syncthing.net/

anyway, this thread is worth reviewing for all of us, especially the side conversations about the local use cases unrelated to syncthing.
some people have some great ideas, others not so much.
