Since all of Georgia was shut down yesterday and closed for business because of the snow I decided I would gear up and take two of my rifles for a walk in the woods.
I had my CZ17 HMR & my Marlin 35 Remington. I quite often take 2 guns with me when I go hunting. Anyway since I follow the lunar tables yesterday's major time for my area peaked at around 5pm. So I'm sitting in my favorite deer killing spot and right on cue two does came strolling into my kill zone.
I promptly raised my rifle and cocked the hammer and I panicked?ÿ "where the hell are the deer,?ÿ I can't see squat, darned it where are they"?
I've got peep sights on all my lever actions and the snow had iced up my peep sight and as I was attempting to blow out the ice jam my dinner got away.
Darn it?ÿ
A Coonass would have shot from the hip and got both of them.?ÿ
They were about 175 yards away and a lot of folks would say that is bit far for lever guns with open sights, but with peeps but I can bust milk jugs at 200 yards with it all day and those big 200 grain soft points have a lot of punch to them. ?ÿ
Took a picture of this barred owl when I was in the woods during our snowstorm. This is about 50 feet away. It was about 30 feet away but when I moved to take a picture it flew a little further away.
All dem "coon asses" I knows can brings a deer down ats 175 yards wit a 38 subnosed relvover.?ÿ ??ÿ
