I'm watching the news and they just showed a short clip about monkeys jumping from trees into a river in Florida. A kayaker filmed nearly a dozen monkeys jumping from trees and I gotta ask is there now a breeding population of non native monkeys in the state? Wouldn't they be able to capture them much easier than the pythons.

The monkeys, a distant relative of mine, are rhesus macaque monkeys. They have made their way from the Ocala National forest south to the Wekiva River Basin and continue to spread south. My Daughter lives in a community in which the "Little Wekiva River" flows through and has seen at least two of the monkeys living in a wooded portion nearby. They seem to prefer living by running waters. The link below may explain it better.
