Temple showed up a Penn State today with coach and assistant coaches that played under Paterno at Penn State. They showed Joe that they learned a lot from him.

Temple had 2 quick touchdowns in the first quarter and held Penn State for no touchdowns for 3 quarters. Finally Penn State just wore them out adding a touchdown to their 5 field goals to win 22-13. Lots of defense on both sides but Penn State's 3 interceptions made the difference. Penn State fans gave the Owls a standing ovation.

Penn State will be 3-1 when they go to 3-1 Iowa next week to face the best defense in NCAA footbal this year. Big Ten now gets to beat up on each other.

6 - 6 Notre Dame Gets A Bowl Game ?

Notre Dame is currently 1-3 and with Boston College, Pitt and USC yet to be played they could be 6 and 6 in December. Already the NCAA comittee is talking teams with 5-7 records may get a bowl game.

Notre Dame is such a has been team and no one likes them at all except those that might have matriculated from that demon school.

Whizz on them. Private contracts, prima donnas. Let them rust in peace as they are now doing.

Notre Dame is a non starter in my world. 1-3...Time to put them to rest.

Murphy Was Alive and Well In Alabama Tonight

The Tigers squeaked by South Carolina, score really doesn't tell the whole story. Excellent execution by the Gamecocks, capitalized on lots of mistakes by Auburn. However, when Murphy givith, he also talkith away.

If Auburn doesn't get their execution together and stop giving away the ball, it is going to be truly painful when they play the major SEC contenders.

Watched Boise State And My Eyes Hurt

Pretty ridiculous to only see half of the football game. I don't need the eye strain and will not watch them at home again.

Win or lose, it is nice to actually see what is going on.

Watched Boise State And My Eyes Hurt

I assure you, the blue turf is not going anywhere. It's there at Bronco Stadium to stay. If it hurts your poor eyes, then bitch and moan to no end (as usual), and simply don't watch. But in doing so, you'll miss some really good college football.

Truth be told, Bronco Stadium is a great place to watch college football. Autumn afternoons are great in that city. Beautiful backdrop of the hills north of Boise. The Boise River is spittin' distance from the North End Zone seating. The crowd is loud and crazy, the tailgating scene is awesome, the general neighborhood has great ambiance (read: great bars and good food).

Plus the home team always wins. Gotta love that.

If you think your eyes hurt watching a game on the blue, please don't even think about looking at Eastern Washington's (EWU) RED TURF. Now that is unsightly as hell! It will make you fall right in love with the BSU blue.

I Missed Some Good Football Last Night

Because I could not see the players. It is not necessarily the blue field, it is the blue pants, blue shirts and blue helmets against the blue field. Now if they had worn different colors I might have been able to see something, baby blue probably would work.

Speaking of annoying fields, Penn State changed the mowing pattern on the turf at Beaver Stadium. That plus the different turf grass has a faded color. I found out last week it looks even worse in person than on TV.

I gotta agree with LPL on all the matching blue colors. Maybe it's not so bad in person but on the TV it makes it hard to watch.

Alleged top team, and visible/invisible or not, BSU would probably take down your beloved Nittany Lions this year if only given the chance. Whether it be in front of 100K at Beaver stadium or 33K at Bronco Stadium or on a neutral field matters not.

Can't believe you are dissing the Bronco's uniforms and their field, when it is common knowledge that Penn State has the most boring uniforms, and the most boring syle of play in all of college football. Penn State games are basically unwatchable, for those reasons. I can fully understand why you might be jealous of a little bit of color and creativity. At least the Broncos can keep you glued to the screen waiting to see what happens next. Example: their All-American wide receiver (Austin Pettis) tossed a real nice touchdown pass on an end-around against Oregon State. This after being benched by Coach Petersen for an entire game last week (for excessive celebration; a somersault into the end zone on a TD catch in the 1st quarter against Wyoming). Guarantee you would never see either of those events in any Penn State game. Win or lose, the Broncos are tons of fun to watch. Even if they are sometimes invisible.

Blue, Blue And Blue Vs Blue And White

Penn State is a student football team, as in TEAM.

The football players attend classes and earn real degrees. The don't have their names on their uniforms because that distracts from the team effort that football is. They don't get gold stars or buckeyes on their helmets because that to distracts from the team.

Penn State for years did an alternate mowing pattern every 5 yards on the grass that made the field pleasantly viewable on TV. This year the pattern is 10 yards wide and goes from the 5 yard markers to the 5 yard markers and looks stupid. I am an equal opportunity complainer.

In my opinion blue pants, shirts and helmets against an equally blue field constitututes "unsportsmanlike conduct". It is hard enough to pick up the subtle motions of football players on the field by the players but camouflage, which it is in effect, is an attempt to gain an "unfair advantage". I can imagine a quarterback not seeing a blindside rush out of the corner of his eye because I could not see it on TV until it was all over. I would estimate that Boise State has a 300% visual advantage in seeing their opponents in "away whites" at Bronco Stadium than the opponent has of seeing them. Even the WAC logo on the field is subdued to avoid contrast.

It is rather juvenile to be gleeful about getting away with cheating that is not quite illegal, but it does not amuse or interest me.

Also I do not care for Marshall's green, green, green uniforms or Notre Dame's "Touchdown Jesus". I note that Michigan State wears while pants with the home green jerseys.

BTW, let me know when your football coach donates $5 million to the Boise State Library.
