You are not mistaken....We just aren't here a lot right now to monitor posts due to our family preparing for a death. Sorry. :-/

Angle, I'm sorry that this came up now, most try to follow the rules. Take care of the things that matter to you right now, this site is appreciated, but your priority's are justifiably elsewhere now.
Wish you and Yours Well

Hate to tell you how much you have been misinformed(No I don't, or I wouldn't be doing it). But having been raised in the highly hispanic southwest, there is no long a sound in Dorado. It is properly the AH sound. B-)

Holy...

It comes down to knowing the locals pronounce it one way, then a reporter or weatherman or politician says it in a different manner. Immediately, all the locals discount whatever the speaker is saying. Effectively dropping the respect for the speaker's IQ by about 50 points.

Some people in Miami, Oklahoma (that's my-am-uh) will cheer for the Miami Dolphins (that's my-am-ee) but you just can't get them to say it like a Floridian because they know the original pronunciation ends in -uh.

As for speakers in the Southwest, they can't even pronouce "Jesus" correctly.
