Auburn, Oregon, Boise State and TCU all won, Utah should move up to # 5.

Formerly unbeaten Missouri and Michigan State lost, but hey they play football in the Big 12/10 and Big 10/12.

I was at Penn State to see the most exciting football game I ever personally attended. Michigan's quarterback Denard Robinson was amazing on the field, 191 yards running and 190 passing. But in a first for Joe Paterno he elected to win it with offense rather than defense. The biggest strategy was to keep Robinson off the field. Evan Royster racked up 150 yards and broke the Penn State rushing record held by Hall of Famer Kurt Warner. Sophomore quarterback Matt McGloin played keep away football. "The thing is, we didn't do anything silly out there," Paterno said. Zero interceptions, zero fumbles, zero penalties. That pleases Joe the most. Michigan hurt themselves by fumbling a kickoff out of bounds on their 2 yard line and some penalties they had at absolutely the wrong time.

Last night's game was better than the year Penn State beat Ohio State to give Joe his 350th win. Next week Paterno can ring up # 400 and quietly retire at the end of this year.

Penn State has yet to play Northwestern 6-2, @ Ohio State 8-1, Indiana 4-4 and @ Michigan State 8-1. Paterno should get to a bowl game to extend his most bowl game and bowl game win records.

Also they anounced last night that Joe's teams have played in front of more than 23,000,000 home fans at Beaver Stadium in his career. I opined last night that if Joe had a dollar for every one of those fans he would probably donate it all to the library. All agreed.

Down The Road in The SEC

The SEC champion should come out of the West.

At the top are:
Auburn 6-0 in SEC, 9-0 overall
Alabama 4-1, 7-1
LSU 4-1, 7-1

Auburn is in the drivers seat, only tough contest is Alabama, win and in.
Alabama has to first beat LSU, then Auburn.
LSU having lost to Auburn, needs to beat Alabama and 6-2 Arkansas and get some help from others against Auburn.

I say the real SEC championship game will be Friday November 26 on Alabama's home turf.

Big 12 Championship Is A Scramble

In the North Nebraska 3-1, 7-1 lost to Texas from the South and beat Missouri and is the shoo in to the title game.
Missouri 3-1, 7-1 even if they finish off 11-1 might even get squeezed out of a BCS berth by the 11-2 South loser or by Nebraska if it loses the title round.

In the South there is blood yet to be left on the field.
Baylor 4-1, 7-2 has an incremental lead but has to play;
Oklahoma State 3-1, 7-1, Texas A&M 2-2, 5-3 and Oklahoma 3-1, 7-1.
I do not expect Baylor to be standing at the end.
The other suspects are;
Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
OSU has Baylor, Texas A&M, Kansas and Oklahoma.
OK has Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor and OSU.
I expect the South Champion to be decided 11/27 @ OSU.
As I said 11-2 OK or OSU should out computer Missouri for the second BCS bowl bid.

No matter what there is a lot of good footbal coming up. Possibly better than what is left in a few of the BCS Bowls.

Big Ten Is A Bigger Scramble

There are only 10 BCS spots and so called outsiders Boise State and TCU/Utah should get 2.

2 go to the "who cares teams" from ACC and Big East.

6 spots left for the Big 12, Big 10, Pac 10 and SEC. I predict SEC and Big 12 get the bonus games.

That squeezes out Arizona from the Pac 10 and # 2 from the Big 10, so the only BCS Big 10 shot is the champion going to the Rose Bowl.

Currently in the scramble are;
Michigan State 4-1, 8-1 with only a possible scuffle with Penn State on 11/27 to slow them down.
Ohio State 4-1, 8-1 with Penn State, Iowa and Michigan, could easily be 2 losses in that mix.
Wisconsin, 3-1, 7-1 with only Michigan and Northwestern in their way.
Iowa 3-1, 7-1 with Northwestern and Ohio State
I believe Northwestern can be the key and the thorn in the side.

Iowa beat Michigan State
Michigan State beat Wisconsin
Wisconsin beat Ohio State and Iowa

They eat their own in the Big 10, more so than in some other conferences.

With 35 Bowl Games 70 Teams Are Needed

With only 120 BCS eligible colleges the NCAA announced earlier this year that it is probable that 5-7 teams may be offered Bowl Games.

Most likely Penn State currently 5-3 will get an offer even without another win, because they can pull a crowd and this probably being Joe's last bowl game etc.etc.

Currently Army, Navy and Air Force each have 5 wins so there is the possibility of all 3 service academies being eligible.

The above series of replies may let you think I am talking to myself but I am just musing and broke it up to cover all the themes without new threads. Just filling in the time until the current BCS ranking come out.

Angel, if the Duckies win out, you won't see them in the Rose Bowl. And that will be a good thing for the Ducks, because it will mean they don't have to suffer through another loss to the BSU Broncos.

Ahhh ok. Shows what I know about football!! I just support all Oregon teams cause I live here. (Although I do enjoy Blazer games!) Where will I see them then? Superbowl?? 🙂
