Why did Rick have Captain Renault call the airport to let them know to not give Rick and Ilsa and Victor Laszlo any trouble if Rick was going to make Captain Renault come along anyway?
You would think a cool customer like Rick would make sure Captain Renault actually dialed the airport but we see that Captain Renault actually called Major Strasser of the Third Reich but Major Strasser came by himself although there was an office full of German Officers. Major Strasser calls the Gendarmes out instead but they don't show up until several minutes after Major Strasser.
Somehow Rick gets to the Airport first (with the rest of the folks above) but I gather from another scene that the Cafe is actually right across the street from the airport. In fact the Cafe is right underneath the departure end of the runway.
Signor Ferrari claims to be "the leader of all illegal activities in Casablanca" but we see that Rick (illegal gambling operation), Ugarte (illegal exit visa operation) and Captain Renault (a poor corrupt official) are all engaged in illegal activities independent of Signor Ferrari (owner of the Blue Parrot Saloon).
"how extravagant you are throwing away women like that" has to be the best line of Captain Renault
