This morning I was looking at the board and 4 year old Foster File climbed up on my lap and saw your avatar....
"why is light on the cow?
"why that cow have a cross"
"cows don't have crosses- they have spots"
he didn't stick around long enough for an answer....
I'm so glad to be of service to help your little one explore the deep mysteries of life.
My father had an expression that was his standard answer to my "Why?" when I was a toddler. It was, "Cat fur" which came out more like Katfir. Sometimes he would complete the statement which was, "Cat fur to make little kitten britches."
Yes, I know, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. But, in all likelihood, most of my "Why?" questions probably made no sense either.
Another brilliant answer he would provide on occasion was, "Back when you were a little girl." That was the standard answer to a "When?" question for which the answer pre-dated my birth. When my sister asked a similar question the answer would be, "Back when you were a little boy."
This probably explains much about wye aye arr thee weigh eye arr.
Unusual markings on animals
Go to Google images and do a search of "unusual cow markings". Plenty of other animals are included. Warning: A couple are photoshopped and a few are grotesque. You will want to skim by those quickly while showing some of the others to little Foster File.
