Reminds me of chaining across a river with a 200-ft chain
with ice floating by.
The crew drove along the creek about a half mile to the nearest
bridge and back.
At least in most of Vietnam it does not get very cold.
Being in the water is a part of daily life there, from working in rice paddies to the fact that it will rain nearly every day and maybe for a month at a time. Rain or shine never slows down travel by foot, motorcycle or boat. Those dome shaped hats made from reeds are not just for protection from the sun.
It reminded me of a rodman that in mid winter 1975 stripped down to his boots only and crossed an over flowing Black Cypress Bayou east of Berea to give a backsight. Was glad the boss decided to run the gun that day. At least the guy had dry clothes when he came back.
