Alex said she will hire you as a consultant gardener !

Do you do Winter Gardens?

Derek, in Ontario, wouldn't I have had to build a campfire over the spot where I needed to dig out the old subsurface material and replace it with good Texas caliche (weathered limestone) soil? I'd worry that it would have cracked that large terra cotta planter or at least singed the plant in it.

There were certain reports that the Republic received 8" of snow yesterday, Lubbock perchance ?

Although we only have barely 5" so far, this will give you some local experience before your impending arrival at North Aboyne Farm to enjoy the 'Wintergarden' !

Christmas afternoon it came a mixed rain and a slight pelting of sleet just before dark. There was nothing on the ground on the 26th.

North of Omaha 30mi to the west was 8"-10" snow on the ground.

I drove my daughter over there to see her first snow.

B-)

Derek, as you know "Winter" in Central Texas is a season that lasts usually a week or two at most. I have no knowledge of Lubbock aside from the fact that you can tell it isn't Oklahoma because the cars are a bit newer. That and the roads are in better condition.

I was out in the field today and managed to surprise a flock of about two dozen wild turkeys roosting in some oaks beside a pasture road. An explosion of Wild Turkish epithets and advice followed. Surely this sort of thing does not take place in Ontario, does it?
