Had an argument with a "flat earther" today.

To prove me wrong, they said they were going to walk to the edge of the earth.

I figure they'll come around eventually.

@squirl

Can you remember all the way back to 2004?

Was following some of your work today.?ÿ If you had gone ahead and set the center of the section I could have been done two hours sooner.?ÿ Maybe more.?ÿ I'll put the blame on Justin G.

Turned out it was within a foot of matching a north-south fence/tree row.?ÿ Not nearly so close in the other direction, though.

Haha! Yes, weƒ??ll let Justin take the blame on that one since I was still green at that point.

We did a couple surveys that required a center of section. Truth be told, that probably wasnƒ??t Justin. That was most likely Billy.

Didn't you help us with that survey? ?ÿ????ÿ

Hope your job was T&M. ????

Made out like a bandit.

Did not assist on this job NW of Petrolia, but you followed my work in the section to the north from 1998.?ÿ 22 years ago!?ÿ Thought that was neat until I took on the second job of the day and realized I was using my own corner records from 1996 for three of the seven we needed.

Interesting story goes with that job from 1996.?ÿ Client wanted to split off a house and a few acres from a tract he had purchased from a dying old guy in a nursing home.?ÿ The total tract was three smaller tracts that added up to a standard 80.?ÿ Copied the deed, went to the field and discovered the client only owned about half of the house.?ÿ Somehow only two of the three sub-tracts were listed on his deed.?ÿ The last word in the deed was "AND" at the very bottom of the page.?ÿ Turned out the old guy hadn't died yet, so they got a deed for the last piece of the puzzle in a hurry.?ÿ Might have been far more complicated, otherwise.?ÿ The seller, the real estate agent, the title company, the appraiser,?ÿ the mortgage holder, the lender, the buyer and two attorneys never noticed the "AND" or asked about the third description.?ÿ If it hadn't been for the call for a survey the first indication of a problem would have been whenever the next property tax statement came out from the County to old guy for a piece of ground he thought he had sold.?ÿ He got paid for the full tract.
