Thank you. That was great.
I had a couple bits of good news involving cows yesterday. First, was the safe arrival of a new calf from a cow I had purchased this summer not knowing if the daddy was a Chianina or a White Park or something else. Still can't tell because baby looks identical to mama. Mama had been making signs for over a week so we had been watching her daily just in case outside assistance might be needed. Sure was nice to find a healthy calf.
Second, was the answer to the mystery from the day before. Had a cow show up at the feed trough with definite signs of either having had a calf shortly before her arrival or was going to deliver one shortly after eating. She didn't appear to be gant so assumed she was about to deliver. Made a point to search the 60 acres anyway, just in case. Found nothing. Then yesterday I arrive to check on mama and she looks the same as the day before except maybe, just maybe, someone had been nibbling on her spigots. When what to my wondering eyes did appear but a tiny, smoke-colored calf from out of the remnants of a big bale of hay. Tiny being the key word. That rascal can't be over 16 to 18 inches tall but perfectly formed. A midget. My rodman operates a petting zoo business so this little rascal is going to join his circus. It would walk under the lowest point of mama's belly without touching her.
This guy keeps calling "Holy Cow", especially toward the end.
Seemed he was needing a bovine fix...
