Several months back I got a referral from another surveyor in Paulding County. That is the county immediately to the south. The property was 1 parcel of a 150 acre family subdivision. The original landowner split up his property and built a road and now all the heirs have some fairly large tracts.

Anywho, this old woman is in disagreement with the original surveyor who happens to have a very good reputation. And the fella that told her to call me has a good reputation.

It seems this woman thinks her well staked and flagged line is in error and insists that the original surveyor made an error and gave her more land. Yep....more land.

So in an effort to understand what the problem is called the original surveyor and and I called the surveyor who referred her to me. The consensus is that she is confused and neither of them want to get involved.

So I call her and talk to her and I very quickly come to the same conclusion. I take notes and add comments with some quick and rough Calcs for costs. Well after a few calls where we talk and I explain the potential cost she says she will think about it and almost everytime that is code word for "No thanks"!

Yesterday she called me back and today I went and took a look at her property and to talk with her.

So I flip through my notebook and find where I wrote down her info. As I was reviewing it she eased over like she was gonna sneak a peek at my notes and that is when I noticed what I wrote and quickly flipped the page.

At the very top of the page in bold letters I had wrote;

This old woman is nuttier than a fruit cake, get no less than half up front.

Might have been ahead to let her see that note. ?ÿIf she protested, you could have told her it was a quote from one of the other guys.

Years ago I had a "Lad's Mag" that had an article on boxing. One of the pictures was split into three, with images of a cake with candles in it, Mike Tyson and Don King. The caption read : "L to R: Birthday cake, beef cake, fruit cake".?ÿ?ÿ

Well after talking some more with the aforementioned woman?ÿI told her that I was gonna have to decline getting involved and she would have to find someone else.

You see she was adamant that the original surveyor was wrong.

Now he had made several trips out there to verify the work and found no errors and he has a darned good reputation as does the?ÿsurveyor who sent her my way and as she is convinced beyond reason that she is right and the other surveyor is wrong and as a result of her being so adamant that she is "correct" nothing I say or do will sway her, especially if I agree with him as I would likely do.

And then she would be poor mouthing me as she is him.

So I declined. I can send her your way if you want and then she can accuse you of being afraid of the other guy.

I wonder if she is related to our local, uh, "nutcake", who claims to have seen the helicopters bringing in the oilfield equipment into her back 10 (yes, she only has ten) acres (so they don't leave a road), thinks the post woman is spying on her, and that the neighbor's roosters are trained to come to her window before they start crowing.?ÿ We had a drone come in, we showed her google earth pictures, we walked her around the property best we could (she is older, and her land is not real flat), and she called us all kinds of names, told us to leave, etc.?ÿ 3 days later a check came in from her, with a nice thank you for marking her corners note...

Steve, years ago when my wife was in private practice they had a coding system for patient files (back when they had paper files).?ÿ One of the codes on the outside of the folder was "TSTL".?ÿ Too Stupid To Live.?ÿ ALL patients got the same level of service, it just let the current provider know what to look forward to.

Andy, I have a similar system but it is simpler than that. Mine is a spinoff of the old tv show Lost in Space..........Danger Stay Away.

Incidentally I am positive that you know both of the surveyors in Paulding County that I speak of and both have very good reputations and this nutty old woman is poor mouthing both of them and I did not want to be next.
