In the survey business we get to interact when many other business people.?ÿ In a perfect world, we should be able to have warm, cordial conversations with those other parties, if for no other reason than to leave them with a feeling that they might refer people in our direction as we might direct people in their direction.?ÿ The following story came from one of those people who had a very unfriendly series of communications with one specific surveyor.

A survey was completed and supplied to one of the parties involved in the sale, financing, title work, appraising or closing on the transaction.?ÿ The survey did not meet the needs as requested in writing.?ÿ It was returned with repeated guidance as to what had to happen before the closing could possibly occur.?ÿ That was met with great resistance from the surveyor, claiming what was needed was beyond the scope of work as he understood it.?ÿ He complained that to do that would involve having the party who called go to the courthouse and spend a few days researching all records and then handing copies of originals and any notes taken to him.?ÿ Apparently he was told that other surveyors working that market are frequent courthouse visitors and that he should join them in producing an acceptable product.?ÿ Things went downhill from there with name calling, cursing and yelling coming from the surveyor.?ÿ Another party to the transaction was called in to attempt to get the surveyor to deliver what had to be produced in order for closing to occur.?ÿ That person made it clear that he would never send work to that specific surveyor ever again based on how he, also, was treated by the surveyor.?ÿ Eventually the necessary scope of work was completed, accepted and recorded after review.?ÿ Everyone involved is upset.
