Senior Registered Professional Land Surveyor – Texas

Senior Registered Professional Land Surveyor – Texas

Austin, Texas, Remote

Description

Holland Land Resources provides land services to major energy and infrastructure clients across the country. Our survey group supports pipeline and right-of-way projects, energy corridors, data center sites, power transmission projects, and large-acreage boundary surveys.

The role focuses on boundary resolution, records research, legal descriptions, technical oversight, and review and certification of survey deliverables. The RPLS will take responsible charge of assigned projects and join an established team that includes professionals licensed in Texas and New Mexico.

This position adds capacity to support a growing survey workload, with experienced colleagues available for technical collaboration and review. Experience in pipeline, oil and gas, energy infrastructure, or closely related sectors is strongly preferred.

The position is remote, with a preference for candidates based in Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Professional oversight and certification: Take responsible charge of assigned survey projects. Review, sign, and seal plats, surveys, exhibits, and legal descriptions within the states where licensed.
  • Boundary resolution: Evaluate deeds, prior surveys, adjoining property records, monument evidence, and conflicting calls. Make and document defensible boundary determinations.
  • Records research: Review county records, recorded plats, right-of-way maps, easement documents, and other evidence necessary to establish boundaries and survey requirements.
  • Legal descriptions: Prepare and review metes-and-bounds descriptions for tracts, easements, and rights-of-way. Verify consistency between descriptions and corresponding surveys or exhibits.
  • Quality control: Review field data, survey calculations, and CAD deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable surveying standards and client requirements.
  • Technical direction: Establish survey scope, methodology, and data collection requirements. Provide technical guidance to field crews and CAD staff, and identify additional evidence or measurements needed to complete the work.
  • Project support: Assist project managers and clients with technical questions, feasibility, estimates, scopes, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Staff development: Mentor CAD technicians and surveyors in training, strengthen technical and review practices, and support progress toward licensure.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Texas RPLS registration in good standing (New Mexico PS also considered).
  • Strong background in boundary analysis, records research, and preparation of legal descriptions.
  • Sound professional judgment and the ability to explain and document boundary determinations.
  • Working knowledge of Texas surveying laws, board rules, and standards of practice.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey software used for calculations, data review, and deliverable preparation.
  • Experience providing technical direction to field crews and CAD staff.
  • Ability to organize work across multiple projects and communicate clearly with clients, project managers, and field personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Surveying experience in pipeline, oil and gas, energy infrastructure, or closely related sectors strongly preferred, particularly work involving linear infrastructure, utility corridors, easements, rights-of-way, and complex boundary resolution.
  • Experience with large-acreage boundary surveys.
  • Additional professional licensure in New Mexico (strongly preferred), Louisiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania or Utah.
  • Experience mentoring CAD technicians or surveyors in training.
